The HAVO Diploma is the minimum award or entry requirement for access to higher education. The Diploma Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO Diploma) takes a year longer (6 years) than the 5-year HAVO diploma. The VWO curriculum prepares pupils specifically for research-oriented study at universities.
