Certificate in Psychoanalytic Studies

Programme Purpose

The Certificate in Psychoanalytic Studies (20 ECTS, NFQ Level 9) is an embedded exit award from the Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (180 ECTS, NFQ Level 9). The programme shares the 20 ECTS taught component in the first year of this programme and is offered to learners who do not progress beyond the first year of the programme, or wish to complete, full Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy programme. The Certificate in Psychoanalytic Studies can be completed in one academic year by part-time learners. The overall aim of the programme is to provide graduates with the opportunity to attain a Level 9 award if they cannot complete the remaining year of the programme for personal or professional reasons. Therefore, the Certificate in Psychoanalytic Studies (20 ECTS, NFQ Level 9) is offered only as an exit award from the Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy programme, and will not be enrolled separately from the Masters award.
