Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Psychoanalytic Studies

Programme Purpose

The Postgraduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Studies (60 ECTS, NFQ Level 9) is an embedded exit award from the Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (180 ECTS, NFQ Level 9). The programme shares the 60 ECTS taught components of this programme from years 1, 2, and 3 and is offered to learners who do not progress to, or do not wish to complete, the research component of the full masters programme, or if issues of suitability arise after the first year. The Postgraduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Studies can be completed in 32 months over three academic years by part-time learners. The overall aim of the programme is to provide learners with the opportunity to attain a Level 9 award if they cannot complete the research component of this programme for personal or professional reasons or if issues of suitability arise after the first year. Therefore, the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Studies (60 ECTS, NFQ Level 9) is offered only as an exit award from the Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy programme.
