Certificate in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education

Programme Purpose

This programme is designed for those with a Level 8 award who have begun teaching or wish to move into teaching and learning at higher education level. It aims to provide learners with teaching and learning specific knowledge, skills and competencies so that they can best support learners within their own discipline teaching. It requires learners to critically consider the context of education and learning, and how theories of education apply in practice. Learners on this programme are required to undertake a placement element, where learning is applied in teaching context. Learners will be required to complete three core modules; 1) Teaching, Learning and Assessment, 2) Technology Enabled Teaching and Learning; and 3) Teaching Practice in Higher Education. In addition, woven through all three modules is the requirement to engage in reflexive practice of one’s own teaching.
