Programme Purpose

The Lowland Leadership currently exists as a National Governing Body award accredited by Mountain Training UK and Ireland. Mountain Training UK and Ireland is the coordinating body for all of the National Mountain Training Organisations of the UK and Ireland. In Ireland the Mountain Training Board is known as Mountain Training Board Ireland. For this award Mountain Training Board Ireland has partnered with KCETB. This award is designed to train and assess those who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The leadership opportunities for Lowland Leaders are varied. With campaigns and initiatives such as Get Ireland Walking there are plenty of opportunities to be a walking leader. The Lowland Leadership is for leading groups on lowland tracks & trails that are clearly marked on both the land and the map.
