Programme Purpose

The MA International Business is designed to produce graduates with advanced knowledge and in-depth understanding of the complexities and challenges associated with international business practice, leadership and management, the issues and drivers that inform and influence practice, and the fundamental linkages between disciplinary specialisms including strategy, risk, marketing, finance and technology. Furthermore, the programme will equip graduates with the ability to continue to develop knowledge, skill and competence to remain competitive and employable in an ever-advancing sector. The programme consists of 60 credits of taught module work and 30 credits of an applied project. Learners who decide to leave the programme, after completing the taught elements only, may be entitled to receive the embedded exit award of a Post Graduate Diploma in Arts in International Business. Graduates will be qualified to assume leadership and management roles and/or to further their education at level 10. The programme utilises a carefully designed curriculum structure with modules focussed on specific disciplinary areas of significance to International Business practice, leadership and management. The design and development of modules within this programme were informed by industry consultation (appendix 2) along with research into comparable programmes and stakeholder feedback. The programme consists of 8 x 5 ECTS and 10 ECTS modules and a 30 ECTS supervised applied Business project. Subject areas include Global Business Strategy, Global Economy, Research Methods and Professionalism, Cross Cultural Management & Leadership, International Finance, Risk Management, Digital Marketing Strategy, Innovation Strategy and Technology and the capstone Applied Research Project. These modules will facilitate the acquisition of discipline specific knowledge, skill and competence along with the development of transversal skills. The programme aims to produce graduates equipped to enter business leadership or management roles or progress to further academic study.
