Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Science

Programme Purpose

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Social Science is designed for learners who are willing to make challenging decisions alongside a strong desire to effect positive social change in local communities. Given the increasing role of social skills in society, and workplace, social science is emerging as a multidisciplinary field with a breadth and depth of content that encompasses various inter-related fields of social science such as: Social Psychology, Cyberpsychology, Criminology, Organisational Psychology, that alongside the technology solutions play a central role in driving a broader positive social, economic and cultural change. The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Sciences is a three year full-time or four years part-time programme (180 ECTS). Learners will study foundational topics in stage one of the programme and are introduced to the five pillars of knowledge - Sociology, Psychology, Social Policy, Criminology and Research. In stages two and three, they will build on this knowledge which is then synthesised in the capstone research project. These knowledge areas are not elective options but clear distinct strands within the programme.
