Certificate in Emerging Digital Technologies
This programme is a one semester Level 7 degree aimed at non-computing professionals who wish to understand the latest emerging digital technologies and to integrate them into their workplace. A minimum of a level 6 (degree) qualification (2.2 or higher) on the National Framework of Qualification is required. The learners may be from IT or non-computing cognate/STEM background. Certificate in Digital Emerging Technologies course aims to produce high-quality, technically technologically competent and, innovative graduates that will become leading practitioners in the field of Digital Emerging Technologies. The programme leads to an NFQ Level 7 academic award Certificate in Digital Emerging Technologies awarded by QQI. Graduates of this programme may pursue further education or employment in the field of IT and Computing. The programme will run both part time in classroom mode and 100% online mode in order to cater to the different types of learners. The learners will have to attend lectures and tutorials in the classroom or online, as well as to study independently. Learners will study 2 modules, 10 credits each, over one semester. Learners will gain knowledge, skills and competence of emerging digital technologies such as Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Blockchain, FinTech, Robotics and, Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality, including their definitions and distinctions as well as the potential to readily apply them in business contexts. The module assessment strategy places greater emphasis on continuous assessment (e.g. essay, presentations, group project) rather than on written exam.
