Certificate in Social Protection Studies

Programme Purpose

The programme is specifically designed for employees (of all grades) working currently in the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. It exposes learners to broad concepts and models moving towards more specific performance standards and behaviours. The purpose of the programme is two-fold. A. It will form part of the Department’s induction / socialisation framework providing employees with an ability to explain the context and discuss the features of the public sector environment. B. It will act as an academic introduction for new entrants to the Department, so that on completion, learners may, where relevant, move onto the more specialised programmes designed specifically for Departmental functions and roles (e.g. Deciding Officer, etc.) or to other relevant studies. Existing staff (especially client facing) may also undertake this certificate as a stand-alone programme or in combination with a role specific programme.
